I would like to point out how old the Gosnell story is to the pro-life community.
Gosnell made the news in February of 2010.
A shocking discovery was made in the office of a Philadelphia doctor by authorities investigating the report of a woman’s death during an abortion. Two dozen frozen fetuses were found in Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s office displayed in jars. Some of the fetuses date back over 30 years.
The woman died in November 2009. (Gosnell had a prior reprimand in 1995). The Grand Jury report came out in January 2011.
If you do a search for “Gosnell” at Jill Stanek’s site, you will find she has nine pages of posts that go back to February 2010.
I’d also like to ask those on the political right and in the center who are pro-abortion, but have been horrified by the revelations at the Gosnell trial, why is what Gosnell did so horrible to you? Because the babies could be seen and heard?
Exactly where you draw the line and say prior to that day abortion is fine? But after that day abortion is immoral?
Is abortion immoral say, from 24 weeks on, but prior to that it’s fine?
What about 20 weeks?
Baby At Seven Weeks
Eleven years ago while giving an anesthetic for a ruptured entopic pregnancy (at eight weeks gestation), I was handed what I believe was the smallest living human ever seen. The embryonic sac was intact and transparent. Within the sac was a tiny human male swimming extremely vigorously in the amniotic fluid, while attached to the wall by the umbilical cord. This tiny human was perfectly developed, with long, tapering fingers, feet and toes. It was almost transparent, as regards the skin, and the delicate arteries and veins were prominent to the ends of the fingers. The baby was extremely alive and swam about the sac approximately one time per second, with a natural swimmer’s stroke. This tiny human did not look at all like the photos and drawings and models of embryos which I had seen, nor did it look like a few embryos I have been able to observe since then, obviously because this one was alive. When the sac was opened, the tiny human immediately lost his life and took on the appearance of what is accepted as the appearance of an embryo at this stage of life.Paul E. Rockwell, M.D.

In Abort-able La Shawn Barber briefly describes abortion procedures accompanied by some of Lennart Nilsson’s classic and beautiful photographs of the child within the womb at corresponding weeks of pregnancy.
Up to 16 weeks of pregnancy, a procedure called vacuum aspiration is used to kill babies. After 16 weeks, abortionists kill babies using a procedure called dilation and evacuation. After 20 weeks, the killing of an unborn baby is euphemistically called partial-birth abortion. To avoid murder charges, the abortionist partially delivers the baby, leaving the head inside. A probe is inserted into the baby’s skull to kill him.
(Between the 16th and 24th weeks, “doctors” sometime perform saline abortions. A solution is injected into the uterus to produce contractions to expel the baby. Dead on arrival.)
There is no requirement for states and areas to report abortions to the CDC. This is the most recent available data:
The majority of abortions in 2009 took place early in gestation: 91.7% of abortions were performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation, and of the abortions performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation, 69.8% were performed at ≤ 8 weeks’ gestation. In 2009, 16.5% of all abortions were medical abortions.Center for Disease Control and PreventionDivision of Reproductive Health, Data and Statistics
Here is a video of the group Created Equal holding enlarged photographs of aborted babies along Obama’s inauguration route. In these photographs notice the tiny hand superimposed on a quarter and the horrific image of a tiny dismembered child compared with the size of an Obama political button.
For the Left children are always merely political props, and the question is not so much why Obama and the Left don’t care about Gosnell, as it is why do some in the political center and center-right care only about Gosnell?
